EFCC Nabs Chinese Over Illegal Mining In Ilorin

Gang Deng, a 29-year-old Chinese national, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ilorin Zonal Command on suspicion of engaging in illegal mining in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Deng was taken into custody on Friday after being discovered to be in unlawful possession of solid minerals.

According to a statement made accessible to newsmen in Ilorin on Saturday and signed by the head of EFCC’s media and publicity department, Wilson Uwujaren, a truckload of minerals thought to be lepidolite were recovered from him.

“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded,” the statement added.

Man Utd winger Antony set to return to England and meet police over assault allegations

Manchester United winger Antony is set to return to England to speak with police over allegations of domestic violence.

The Brazil international has been granted an indefinite period of absence after disturbing allegations from his ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavalin.

The case is currently being investigated by police in both Sao Paulo and Manchester.

The Sun now reports that the winger is poised to fly back to England from Brazil, and is set to deny all claims.

Cavalin has accused Antony of two separate assaults, while further allegations have come from two more women, Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana.

Antony has consistently maintained that he is innocent, and that all encounters with the involved women were consensual.

The winger is said to be willing to co-operate with police, as the report quotes a source claiming that the player is willing to surrender his mobile phone to police if necessary.

He appeared on television in Brazil to give an interview, insisting his innocence, and will now meet with police in the UK as their investigation continues

BREAKING: Gunmen Kidnap Benue Commissioner Of Information

Unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted the Benue State Commissioner of Information, Culture and Tourism, Matthew Abo.

Naija News gathered that Abo was abducted from his residence in his hometown in the Zaki-Biam community of Ukum Local Government Area of the state on Sunday night.

According to Daily Trust, the commissioner was abducted by gunmen who rode on four motorcycles to his house in Zaki-Biam, a rural town famous for being the largest yam market in the country.

It was gathered that the gunmen arrived at Abo’s residence, and ordered everyone, including his wife and children, to lie face down, after which they took him away to an unknown destination on one of the motorcycles.

According to a former media aide to two ex-governors of the state, Tahav Agerzua, the abductors compelled the commissioner at gunpoint to sit behind the rider of one of the motorcycles while a gunman sandwiched him.

Kula Tersoo, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, confirmed the kidnap of the commissioner to to Daily Trust.

He said: “Unfortunately, he (commissioner) was kidnapped in his country home in Ukum LGA, around 8pm on, Sunday, September 24, 2023.

“He was in his home with his family, children and his people when the armed men came in. They forced him to a bike.

“We received the unfortunate development, and His Excellency, Governor Hyacinth Alia has already directed and detailed the security operatives to ensure his safe release from the kidnappers’ den.”

Mohbad’s Father Present As Police Launches Special Investigation Team On Son’s Death

The inauguration of a 13-man special investigative team by the Lagos State Police Command to probe the death of the late singer’s son, Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, was attended by Joseph Aloba, the singer’s father, and some other relatives.

While addressing the press at the inauguration, the Lagos State Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, said, “Wherever you are in this world, do not forget, we have a unique access in the INTERPOL, everybody linked to it will be identified and brought to establish their level of liability.

“We want to undertake a fair and open investigation, and we don’t want to isolate specific characters. All facts, including videos, personalities that have been mentioned, those not even mentioned but we do know from our homicide investigation experience, could be vital to getting to the root of this.

“I don’t want to reduce it to specific names at this moment. Let’s proceed with the investigation. And as we have need to identify individuals which could be wider, we will pick on whoever we believe from investigation is linked and we’ll bring such a person within the dictates of the law to come and clarify their level of involvement.”

Mohbad died on September 12 at the age of 27.
