Lagos Lagoon Suicide Victim Identified As DSS Staff

The young lady who was reported to have  jumped into the Lagos Lagoon on Thursday has been identified as Adetutu Adedokun, a staff member of the Department of State Services.


Fidel Info reports that sources in the office revealed that Adedokun was an unarmed combat instructor and had recently gotten engaged.

The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, in a statement on Thursday said the driver of the taxi claimed she was having a heated conversation with her fiancé before alighting from the car and jumping into the lagoon.

Dr Olufemi, in recent statements, claimed that the search and rescue team was still on the water trying to locate the body.

Ms. Adedokun, who is in her late 30s, was also said to have received a letter of commendation from the Director General of DSS as the best-unarmed combat operative in her set, few months ago.

The victim’s fiancé was also reported to have proposed to her a few weeks ago.

Dr Olufemi had on Thursday said, “Upon the arrival of the Lagos Response Team at the incident scene, investigation revealed that a lady in her late 30s plunged into the Lagos lagoon.”

“Further investigation revealed that the lady alighted from an Uber taxi car on the bridge and plunged into the lagoon. The driver of the taxi claimed she was having a heated conversation with her fiancé before alighting from the car.”

“The LRT, men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, LASWA and officials of the Department of State Services are currently on ground working together to search for the victim.”

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, said rescue teams after intense search and rescue efforts were unable to find the victim.

He said, “The rescue teams called off their search by 7pm because it was already dark. They will continue the search tomorrow (Friday); you know it is water, the wave would have taken the body somewhere else. But we will search everywhere.”

Atiku Mourns Victims Of Kaduna-Abuja Expressway Auto Crash

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, Atiku Abubakar, has commiserated with the victims of the tragic auto crash that occurred on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

PUNCH Online reports that the fatal road crash that occurred at Audu Jhangon village along the expressway, on Sunday, claimed the lives of 16 persons and left 27 injured.

In a post on his official X handle, the former Vice President wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic road accident that occurred today at Audu Jhangon village along the Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

“This devastating event, which claimed 16 precious lives and left 27 individuals with injuries, is a profound loss for our nation and the affected families.

“In these difficult times, my heart goes out to all those who have been impacted by this tragedy. I offer my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and wish a speedy recovery to those who are injured.

“May we come together as a community to provide support and comfort to all those grieving and recovering from this heartbreaking incident.”

Guinness, FRSC task drivers on responsible drinking to avert accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Kaduna Sector Command says no fewer than 16 persons died and 27 sustained injuries in a road crash on Kaduna-Abuja expressway.

The Sector Commander, Mr Kabir Nadabo, said that the fatal road traffic crash occurred at Audu Jhangon village along the expressway on Sunday.

He explained that the crash occurred at 05:20hrs, when a vehicle (DAF TRAILER) with registration number KUJ 430XC, with overloaded goods, lost control and fell into a ditch.

”Initial reports indicate the driver was at high speed, probably due to fatigue.

“The combined rescue teams of RS1.114 Zhipe Unit Command and RS1.16B Dutse Outpost conducted the rescue operations.

“The crash involved 65 people, where 27 were injured and 16 people were deceased.

“The injured have been taken to the nearest hospital for treatment, “he added.

Nadabo said on receiving news of the crash, he visited the scene to have first-hand information as well as direct rescue team on the evacuation of the deceased to the morgue.

“I also directed the tow truck to remove part of the accidented trailer blocking part of the road. The operation is ongoing, and the road is free for movement, “Nadabo said

Police Arrest Adamawa Teenager For Allegedly ‘Raping’ A Chicken

A 17-year-old resident of Viniklang, Girei Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Lawali Mori, has been apprehended by police operatives for engaging in sexual activity with a cock.

It was gathered that the arrest was made because his actions were deemed unnatural.

Mori was caught in the act by Esther Dimas, another resident of Viniklang, who promptly reported the incident to the police.

In a statement released by the Adamawa Police Command, it was revealed that Mori admitted to the crime but was unable to provide a motive for his actions.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, has expressed his concerns regarding the incident and has consequently ordered a covert inquiry into the matter
