The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commiserated with the immediate and political families of Mr Babatunde Akinlawon, in Iwo, Iwo Local Government Council Area of the state, over his demise.
Akinlawon was the APC House of Assembly candidate for Iwo State constituency in the last general elections.
The sudden death of Akinlawon, an APC chieftain in Iwo, was reported early yesterday to the surprise of all and sundry.
In his tribute, the state chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, said in a statement issued in Osogbo, the Osun State capital today, by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, that the sudden death of Akinlawon was shocking and tragic.
Lawal described the deceased as a committed and absolutely loyal party man whose place would be difficult to fill.
He stated that it is on record that Akinlawon contributed his quota to improve the fortune of the APC.
The state APC chairman appealed to his widow, the children, members and supporters of the APC in Iwo to take the tragic death of Akinlawon philosophically as no leaf falls off a tree without the knowledge of the All-knowing God.
He prayed to God to grant the dependants of the deceased the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of their loved one.
Lawal stated that he was extremely pained by the news of the death of Akinlawon who devoted his time for the advancement of the APC in his constituency in particular and the state in general.
In his words: “It was painful that Akinlawon had to exit this world by this time in the history of the state.
“I am, on behalf of my family, the APC executive officers in Osun State and the entire members of the APC in the state under my watch, commiserating with the family of Mr Babatunde Akinlawon, a chieftain of our party in Iwo, and other members of our party in Iwo”,Lawal stated.
