Yoruba Nollywood Mourns the Loss of Sunday Ossai

The Yoruba Nollywood industry is mourning once again as they bid farewell to one of their own, Sunday Ossai.

Veteran actor Jide Kosoko, who was one of the first to work with the late film practitioner, announced the news of his demise.

Kosoko credited Sunday Ossai as the genius behind the pioneering indigenous reversal film in Nigeria.

In his tribute, Kosoko praised Ossai for his contributions to the industry and described him as a renowned movie effects creator.

“I mourn the passing away of a prolific film practitioner, Sunday Ossai. He was one of the firsts to join the Jide Kosoko Theatre Company in 1972. He was the brain behind the indigenous reversal film in Nigeria. A foremost movie effect maker… Ossai, you have done your bit. Rest in peace.”

Condolence messages from industry colleagues flooded the comment section, including Saidi Balogun, Faithia Williams, Toyin Adewale, and Yinka Quadri.

Saidi Balogun wrote, “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Faithia Williams wrote, “May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Toyin Adewale wrote, “Jesus! May his soul rest in perfect peace.”

Yinka Quadri wrote, “Rest in perfect peace.”

Just last week, the industry also lost another veteran, Akeem Alamutu, who passed away in the early hours of September 19, 2023.

Odunlade Adekola shared the news of his demise, urging everyone to embrace a humble existence and remember that everything will eventually become part of history.

Industry figures such as Funke Akindele, Shaffy Bello, Jaiye Kuti, Hilda Dokubo, Muyiwa Ademola, and more paid their respects.

Additionally, the Nigerian movie industry lost veteran Yemi Adeyemi, popularly known as ‘Suara,’ this week.

Suara, who starred alongside Sola Sobowale in the popular TV series Super Story, passed away on Sunday, September 24th.

The devastating news was announced by his family in a statement signed by his son, Adetoun Adeyemi, requesting privacy during their time of grief.

The family did not disclose the cause of death but promised to provide more details about the burial.

Suara’s death came just days after the announcement of the passing of actor and filmmaker Charles Granville, who died on Thursday, September 21, 2023.

The news of Granville’s death was shared by his friend Umanu Elijah, who revealed that the Tinsel star had succumbed to a long-standing illness

Nigerian comedian Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, known by his stage name Mr Macaroni is ecstatic as he bags ambassadorial deal with an automobile company, also received a brand new car.

The comedian took to his Instagram page to make the announcement as he showed off the car he had received as part of the contract.

Mr Macaroni disclosed that he signed a deal with @mikanomotors.

Photos shared on his social media page shows him besides the breath-taking black suv car.

Sharing the images, he wrote…
