The late former governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu loyalists have alleged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of encouraging the agenda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by suspending caretaker chairmen appointed by Akeredolu.
They accused the governor of planning to sack all Akeredolu’s appointees ahead of the governorship election slated to hold this year in the state.
One of the suspended caretaker chairmen who pleaded anonymity said the action of Governor Aiyedatiwa asking them to leave office might cause a crisis in the State’s APC.
He said their suspension showed that the governor is siding with the main opposition party in the State, PDP.
“The circular by the Permanent Secretary is an agenda by the faction of the deputy governor, now governor, to uproot all loyalists of Aketi from this administration.
“This is another round of crisis in our party and no one can say when this is going to end. Mr. President has tried his best, but these people are not ready to embrace peace.
“Where did the Permanent Secretary get the judgment which says caretaker committees have been suspended? Is he pretending not to be aware of the appeal suit and stay of execution filed by the caretaker chairmen and that of the state government at the Appeal Court.
“Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa may also face serious challenges in managing the situation and unite the party as advised by President Tinubu following the death of former Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.”
However, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Aiyedatiwa, said the caretaker chairmen were not sacked as some people claim but suspended until the suit is determined.
Adeniyan said his principal did not want to divide the party nor did he want to side with the opposition.
