The Osun State Amotekun Corps, on Thursday, said it arrested Dada Isiaka, a 30-year-old ex-convict who hails from Ada in Boripe Local Government of the state, for allegedly raping a 9-year-old girl.
In a statement by Osun State Amotekun Commander, retired Brig.-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi said Isiaka was arrested on Tuesday, where he committed the crime.
It was reported that Isiaka lured the minor to an uncompleted building around Aogun Compound in Ada and allegedly raped her.
According to the report, it was the minor’s screams while being defiled that attracted the attention of the people in the area, who quickly called the officials of Amotekun Boripe Command to the incident.
Adewinmbi said: “The girl raised alarm when she was being raped, and when residents rushed to the scene of the incident, they met her with blood coming out of her private part.
“The residents apprehended the suspect on the spot and called the attention of Amotekun operatives to the incident.
“When the Amotekun officers took the suspect in for questioning, he admitted that he committed the offence.”
Osun Amotekun reported that it found out during interrogation that the Isiaka was an ex-convict and had served three months in jail for stealing.
Adewinmbi said the Isiaka had been handed over to the state police for further investigation and prosecution.
The commander appealed to the people of the community and the state to always report any infraction and suspicious movement to security agents for prompt action.
