On Tuesday, the Apex court reserved judgment in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Appeal court judgment reinstating Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State.
The five-member panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun postponed the matter for judgment after hearing the counsel’s arguments on the appeal.
Kekere-Ekun said the involved parties would be alerted when the judgment is ready.
The state election petition tribunal had declared David Ombugadu of the PDP the winner of the March 18, 2023 election while sacking Abdullahi.
The was led by Ezekiel Ajayi and had a split decision of two-to-one. Having assessed the proof before the panel, Ombugadu of the PDP substantiated his claim that the poll results were manipulated to support Sule.
But the Appeal Court reinstated the governor and positioned that the tribunal wrongly relied on the proof of eight PDP witnesses, whose statements on oath were not front-loaded with the petition.
