The Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s media office on Tuesday said Daniel Bwala was a spokesman for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation in the 2023 polls and not a former aide to its Principal.

Atiku’s media office noted, “Bwala offered his services and support to the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation as a spokesperson – and it was a position he held during the last presidential campaign.”

The statement added, “Subsequently, and after the election, the need for a campaign spokesperson has terminated, and Bwala has moved on with his career.

“This, therefore, serves as notice to the media and the interested public to desist from defining Bwala as an ex-aide of Atiku Abubakar.

“We duly urge the public to henceforth recognise, introduce, and define Daniel Bwala by his current vocation and alliance.”

Bwala, a fierce critic of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, had said his supporting the President does not mean he betrayed Atiku.

He had condemned the criticisms that followed his decision to support Tinubu, whom he criticised and called names throughout the 2023 politicking process.

Bwala left the APC in July 2022 to join the PDP because of Tinubu’s Muslim-Muslim ticket in the 2023 general elections, and he was made the spokesperson of the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organisation.

He was one of the fearless spokespersons of Alhaji Atiku during the campaigns.

However, on January 10, 2024, Bwala surprised Nigerians when he visited Tinubu at the Aso Villa in Abuja, from where he declared his support for him. A few weeks later, he met with Tinubu in Paris, France.
