Kylian Mbappe is reportedly heading to Real Madrid, with the Liga giants lining up a potential reveal date for their latest ‘Galactico’ signing.

The World Cup-winning forward is preparing to sever ties with Paris Saint-Germain. With no contract extension option taken up there, Mbappe will be leaving Parc des Princes as a free agent in the summer of 2024.

Real’s patience is set to be rewarded, with Los Blancos having spent several years pursuing Mbappe’s signature. They are said to have a lucrative offer lined up, with the prolific 25-year-old landing a deal in Spain that includes a signing bonus of between €120 million (£103m/$129m) and €130m (£111m/$140m).

No official announcement will be made any time soon, but RMC Sport reports that the move will be completed before the summer. Journalist Frederic Hermel claims: “What I was told several weeks ago is that Real would like to announce it in April-May, not before, because of the risk of confrontation in the Champions League. What I am told in Madrid is that Real does not want to humiliate PSG in this story. The club wants to consider that it is not Real who steals Mbappe from PSG, but Mbappe who leaves his club after seven years and who is free. Real Madrid has been very forward on the issue and has twice been hit in the face. So they did not want to be in this situation.”

Mbappe is also waiting on approval from Real regarding his potential involvement in the 2024 Olympic Games, which will take place in Paris. PSG included that option within their proposal to the club’s all-time leading scorer, but he is seemingly set to take on a new challenge at Santiago Bernabeu.
