An apprentice with a trailer driver has been hospitalised as a result of an accident in Ogbomoso in Oyo State.

The apprentice was hospitalised as a result of injuries he sustained on his leg during the accident which occurred on Saturday.

FIDELINFO learned that a petroleum-laden tanker, on Saturday afternoon skidded and fell as it made to negotiate the Takie roundabout in Ogbomoso leaving an apprentice severely wounded in the leg.

Sources disclosed that the tanker was coming from the direction of Caretaker but fell as it made to wheel towards Federal Government College road to link the new Ilorin highway.

The apprentice has been taken to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, Teaching Hospital in Ogbomoso.

The incident triggered a traffic snarl in the metropolis with a long line of vehicles, particularly articulated vehicles on the major trunk A road.

An operative of Oyo State Road Transport Management Agency, ORTMA, who asked not to be named confirmed the development.

He said, “One of the motor boys had one of his legs crushed in the accident but had been taken to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.

“Our men upon seeing the accident quickly mobilized to nearby road junctions to stop traffic and control movement of people at the scene to prevent any untoward incident like a fire outbreak or more accidents”.

FIDELINFO gathered that many road accidents have been recorded in the area.

Our correspondent recalls that five people were injured as a result of an incident which occurred in the area in July last year.

About eighteen lives were also lost in multiple accidents in the same area in December last year.

Residents of Ogbomoso have continued to call on the government to construct a flyover at the roundabout
