Rain wreaks havoc in Ogun

A downpour on Sunday that lasted for over an hour and 20 minutes destroyed many vehicles, electrical poles, and wires at Sango-Ota under bridge and Oju-Ore area of Ogun.

The lead, media relations, Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Mrs Busolami Tunwase, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota, Ogun state.

NAN reports that the downpour, which began around 11.30 a.m., wreak havoc on several poles and wires around the Sango-Ota-Oju-Ore area and its environs.

IBEDC said no life was lost, but properties, estimated at over N100 million, especially vehicles, were damaged by the heavy rain.

According to Tunwase, IBEDC is aware of the development and had deployed its technical team to the area.

“We are appealing to the public to stay clear of every electrical pole, wire, and other electrical installation until we are able to clear everything off the road,” Tunwase said. (NAN)
