Gunmen abduct prison warder in Niger

Gunmen have abducted ACC Abdulrahman Ibrahim Gelele, the Assistant Controller of Corrections of the Niger State Correctional Centre Minna.

In a statement offered to Journalists late in the evening on Thursday in Minna by CSC Rabiu Mohammed Shuaibu (CPRO), the Command’s Public Relations Officer said ACC Abdulrahman Ibrahim Gelele was abducted on the 17th of April 2024.

According to CPRO Shuiabu, the officer was kidnapped along Ilorin – Minna road when he was coming back from Ilorin on vacation.

The incident has been covered in secret with the belief that he will regain his freedom soon, but after over a week, it has become the talk in the headquarters of the Centre.

The statement revealed that the abductors contacted the family of the victim once and, since then, have cut off all communication with either his office or the family.

The statement stated further that CC. Mohammed Hamisu Isa fdc, the Controller of Corrections, Nigerian correctional service, Niger State, “On behalf of the officers and men of the command, solicit your prayers for his safe release and freedom from the captives, please.”
