Kano mosque attack ‘death toll rises to 15

Mr. Hussaini Gumel, the Kano State Commissioner of Police (CP), said the death toll from the mosque attack in Gadan village, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state, has risen to 15.

Recall that this medium reported that on Wednesday, a man allegedly sprayed the mosque with petrol, locked its doors, and set it on fire, trapping at least 40 worshippers.

However, some of the victims of the incident are still receiving treatment at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano.

The CP said that the incident occurred during the Muslim morning prayer at a mosque in Gadan village, leaving 24 worshippers severely injured. He added that the victims with injuries are currently receiving treatment at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano.

The motive behind the disastrous attack is said to be a family conflict over the sharing of family inheritance.

Mr. Gumel also noted that the police are still investigating the incident.
