OSUN FUTA ALUMNI holds inaugural lecture, gives scholarship to Indegent Students

The Osun State Branch of the Federal University of Technology Akure Alumni Association held the first Public Lecture, Scholarship for indigent students, and award presentation program on Saturday, 25th of May, 2024 at Aurora event Centre, Osogbo, Osun State.

The chairman of Osun state branch of FUTA Alumni Com. Adetunji David Ajala while addressing the participants mentioned that he took up the responsibility to serve with the sole aim of giving back to FUTARIAN and it’s a delight to see the program come to pass.

While thanking all Alumni for their support, he added that, we don’t need to have deep pockets or be rich to help the needy but a heart that exudes kindness, which state the reason for the program and that of the scholarship awards that would be given to indigent students only”.

In her address, the Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Professor Adenike Temidayo Oladiji commended the effort of the alumni for organizing such a program and for always giving back to the University.

She also mentioned that the University is always ready to partner with the Alumni association and private investors in taking FUTA to greater heights.

In their brief remarks, FUTA Alumni President Worldwide, Engineer Adeyemi Bello and the Director of Advancement Centre, Prof. Ayo Olajuyigbe thanked the Osun state branch for organizing such a program. We called on the Alumni of the university spread worldwide to do more for the institution as government and the university can’t do it alone.

The keynote speaker, Engr Tunji Light Ariyomo, FNSE while delivering the public lecture titled ‘National Productivity Gap and Harnessing the Power and Opportunities of the Knowledge Economy for Business Scalability in a Depressed Economy’ stated the need for everyone to tap into the opportunity ICT provides toward stable wealth creation and management.

“By enhancing efficiency, expanding market reach, and fostering innovation, ICT can help businesses overcome economic challenges and achieve sustainable growth”

He said further, to fully realize these benefits, Nigeria must address infrastructure deficits, enhance digital literacy, and implement robust cybersecurity measures through strategic investments and policies”, he concluded.

At the program, Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele (VC, Redeemer’s University), Engr. Tunji Light Ariyomo, Mr. Bunmi Oladunjoye, Mr. Akin Oladosu, Mr. Aladesemipe Olaoluwa, Engr Tunde Babalola, Engr (Mrs) Omowumi Olaiya, Engr Ayodeji Aduwo, Hon. Adewumi Adeyemi, and Mr. Akintomide Aina were given ‘most outstanding alumnus’ award for their exceptional leadership and selfless contributions to humanity.

Similarly, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Adenike Temidayo Oladiji and HRH, Oba (Dr) Adedokun Abolarin Aroyinkeye 1, the Orangun of Oke-Ila were given ‘Education Ambassador’ awards for the vivid effort of taking Futa to greater heights in less than 3 years of being at the helm of affairs and for the beautiful work done at Abolarin College – A school where students pay no school fees; enjoy free hostel, free food, free internet, free uniform, free laptop and 24 hours power supply, and all these expenses are paid by Kabiyesi accordingly
