The Akwa Ibom Police Command has nabbed four suspected kidnappers dressed in military uniform and rescued their victims.

ASP Timfon John, Its Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), in a statement yesterday in Uyo, said the command received a distress call on May 24 about an abduction incident at Utang Street, near Gibbs Street in Uyo metropolis.

He said, “Our anti-robbery squad swung into action and mobilised to the scene where the four suspects were arrested.”

The ASP said the suspects were nabbed while attempting to abduct a man identified as Richie, a friend of their earlier victim.

John said the command recovered one red Honda Accord car with registration number BJ 615 ABC, a handcuff, and a dagger from the suspects.

The spokesperson stated that the arrested suspects would be charged in court after the investigation.

The PPRO said Waheed Ayilara, the state Commissioner of Police, had zero tolerance for kidnapping and other criminalities.

“The command is resolved and prepared to rid the state of criminal activities,” he said.
