19 nabbed over kidnapping, armed robbery in Kano

No fewer than Nineteen suspected criminals have been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for alleged armed robbery, cattle rustling, abduction, and other banditry-related crimes in the state.

SP Abdullahi Haruna, the command’s Public Relations Officer, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He said that the arrest of the suspects followed far-reaching crime prevention patrols embarked upon by the command.

Haruna said, “Exhibits recovered during the investigation include two AK-47 rifles with breach numbers: 1983NA8154 and 3398; 26 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition; 16 rams; 17 live cartridges and one of their operational motor vehicles; and a Toyota Sienna with Reg. No. YAB 243 AG among others.

“All the suspects confessed to belonging to a syndicate that engaged in kidnapping, cattle rustling, and other banditry-related crimes. One of the suspects further revealed that they had already carried out an assessment on their target location and were planning to rob some at some places in the state.”

Haruna said that all the suspects who are currently undergoing detailed investigation at the Criminal Investigation Department of the command will be charged in court thereafter.

CP, Usaini Gumel, promised the public that the command would continue to work tirelessly towards ensuring the protection of the lives and property of all Kano residents and bring perpetrators of criminal activities to justice.
