IGP Egbetokun vows to deal with officers seeking undue promotion

The Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun has vowed to deal with any officer who go behind doors to lobby for special promotions that they do not deserve.

This was contained in the speech delivered by Egbetokun during the decorations of senior police officers at the Goodluck Jonathan Peace keeping hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja on Friday

IGP Egbetokun stated that the current police leadership is commitment to the standardization of promotion among deserving Police officers, adding that ,the force will adhere strictly to the fundamental equity of promotion based on seniority.

“we are committed to promotion of our officers based on merit and strictly on seniority”, he stated.

The IGP who stated that no deserving officers will be denied promotion, added that, the ban on special promotions is still in place.

“As I said upon assumption of office that no officers will be given special promotion, any officer who will be given special promotion will be scrutinized meticulously, any personnel who try to lobby for special promotions will face disciplinary actions”

He also warned officers against seeking and lobbying for preferential posting.

The Police Boss while congratulating the promotees urged them to use their new office towards fostering unity among the force

“wear your new rank with pride, don’t use your rank to intimidate anyone, instead use it to the betterment of the force.

The IGP appreciated President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering commitment and support towards the welfare of officers and men of the Force.
