As Nigerians continue to grapple with epileptic power supply and fuel scarcity, the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Bauchi Axis, has added its voice to calls for the dismissal of the Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, Mele Kyari.

The Association made the call on Tuesday during a protest at the Bauchi Press Centre.

Addressing journalists, the North East Coordinator of Protest, Mohammed Sani Hassan said that the failure of the two key government appointees to effectively perform their roles had brought more hardship to the common man, with students bearing the brunt.

According to him, “It has become so hard to transport ourselves to our various campuses. We are at the receiving end of this hardship. If they cannot find a lasting solution to this problem, they should be fired to allow competent people run these two institutions.

“The eight years of Buhari was just for promises and this administration is also building on it. We are hoping for the best but the hardship is killing us.”

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of NANS, Bauchi Axis, Usman Abubakar Mansur, said that the economic hardship in the country should be urgently addressed.

“The skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, coupled with the persistent scarcity of electricity and the exorbitant rates of electricity units have created an unbearable burden on the shoulders of the Nigerian populace.

“This dire situation directly affects the ability of students to pursue their education effectively and contributes to the overall deterioration of our quality of life.

“As representatives of the Nigerian student community in Bauchi State, we remain resolute in our commitment to advocating for the rights and welfare of students across the nation.

“We urge the Federal Government to heed our call for urgent action to alleviate the economic hardships facing our people and ensure a brighter future for the youth of Nigeria,” he said
