The Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has clarified that the Open Air National Coordinating Council meeting held in Ilorin recently was aimed to sensitize the public about the activities of the Oodua Peoples Congress.

Iba Gani Adams also noted that the meeting has nothing to do with the rumoured installation of a Yoruba Oba of Ilorin.

In a letter of appreciation personally issued to the Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, to appreciate him for playing host to him and his entourage, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland, however denounced a statement issued by one faceless individual, Alhaji Oluwadamilare Saka on his Facebook page, to misinform the public about the stool of Emir of Ilorin.

He said the person is not a member of Oodua, urging the state government and entire people of the state to disregard the ranting of a faceless person that orchestrated the rumour to cause unnecessary crisis in the state.

Iba Gani Adams said ” I want to use this opportunity to tell you that our mission in Ilorin during the Open Air National Coordinating Council meeting was to sensitize the public about our activities. I also disown the faceless individual that used his Facebook page to misinform the public”.

The Aare Onakakanfo explained that the meeting with the state government was aimed at projecting the cultural heritage and potentials of the state to the world.

He however assured to work with the state government towards proffering ways to promote the cultural identity of the people by using the Olokun Festival Foundation as a tool to promote the cultural festivals like Oya and Esie festivals in Kwara state.

Iba Gani Adams who also promised to approach issues with utmost maturity, said he would use his position to ensure the safety of all sons and daughters of the Yorubaland both in home and abroad.
