The young progressive Devoted Minds, has played down the comment of the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan, calling it a political statement that holds no water.

Lawan had during his visit to Kwara at the weekend, said the present administration has delivered on key components of governance in a style not seen before over the past decade in the state.

The state government subsequently issued a statement titled, ‘We prioritise self-reliance, expanding mass prosperity over handouts: Kwara Gov’ signed by AbdulRazaq’s spokesman, Rafiu Ajakaye.

But in a statement, the Administrative Secretary, Kwara Devoted Minds, Owolabi Adebayo Abdulkadir, said, while Saraki may never be bothered by such irrelevances, it will not be out of place to call a stranger to the state in person of Lawan to order not to be carried away by the moment or acts of sycophancy.

It also said it is not surprising coming from someone who has been at the beck and call of the Presidency since assuming office as Senate President.

“What do you expect from a Senate President who spent the taxpayer money to fly private jet to Kwara just to “commission” grinding machines and car gifts as empowerment.

“It would have been expected that the Senate President in his position will be in Kwara to commission projects or inspect any ongoing one by the State government, but alas, he was here to attend an empowerment program by Senator representing Kwara North.

“He is advised in his own interest to hear from the people and also do his research to avail himself factual details about the Saraki administration and that of his successor before he decides to ludicrously play to the gallery.”

Owolabi also knocked the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration for luring the Senate President to Kwara to help its face-saving gimmick to gain traction.

Owolabi said, “This is another antics by the present administration’s to seek approval from outside and hold on to a thin rope because of its obvious shrinking popularity.

“As we have always maintained, these set of people cannot gather without mentioning the name Saraki. We have never seen this kind of obsession before.

“Unfortunately, rather than succeeding in their agenda to discredit him, they are only stressing his good works and we’re better for it because Saraki’s achievement and that of his successor, are conspicuous for all to see.”

He lambasted the Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration for having the courage to compare his abysmal two years in office to Saraki’s transformation era.

“What beats my imagination is how these people always have the foolhardiness to bring this topic up with no iota of shame.

“This is a government that has not embarked on any Capital or meaningful project since assumption of office. All he has commissioned are projects initiated by the same predecessors and already at the final stages of completion before the exit of Governor Abdufatah Ahmed from office.

“Yet, his people have the gut to talk about the sterling performance of Saraki whose accomplishment earned him the vote of the people and upon which his successor also administered the state for another eight years.

“Perhaps they need to be told once more that it was Saraki’s ingenuity and performance in office that propelled the Governors of the other 35 states to unanimously pick him as Chairman of Governors Forum.”

Owolabi therefore asked the state government to find a means of floating its sinking ship, rather than spewing gibberish or mouthing the name Saraki or the previous administrations at every given opportunity.
