Cole Palmer broke an incredible record when he scored for Chelsea on Monday evening.

Chelsea have endured an underwhelming season, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side ninth in the table and facing another season without European football.

While Chelsea fans have had little to shout about, Cole Palmer has proved to be a major bright point.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a superb campaign since making a £40 million move to Stamford Bridge from Manchester City last summer.

Palmer has scored 24 goals and provided 13 assists in 41 outings this season, making him Chelsea’s best performer by some margin.

On Monday Chelsea took on Everton in the Premier League, and raced into a two goal lead courtesy of Palmer.

The attacker nutmegged fellow English youngster Jarrad Branthwaite, before playing a one-two with Nicolas Jackson and curling a left-footed shot past Jordan Pickford.

The goal not only gave Chelsea the lead, but it was a record-breaking strike too.

Palmer became the first ever Chelsea player to score in seven successive Premier League appearances at Stamford Bridge.

The previous record was six, set by Eidur Gudjohnsen in 2002 and equalled by Didier Drogba in 2007.

Palmer scored his second when he headed in a rebound from close range, before he completed his hat-trick by lobbing Pickford after the Everton goalkeeper gave the ball away when way outside of his penalty area.

Palmer has now scored hat-tricks in back-to-back home games, after he put Manchester United to the sword in a dramatic 4-3 win earlier this month.
