APC Primaries: Kwara CAN Decries Injustice Against Member

The Kwara State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged the national chairman of te All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to redress an alleged injustice against its member in the just concluded party primaries. The body said the party may lose the 2019 elections in Kwara state in particular except the alleged injustice was addressed.

Angered by an alleged injustice against Chief Isaac Omogbenle Adeyemi in the recently conducted House of Representatives primary election of the APC in Kwara state, the association threatened to vote for the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if the injustice was not reversed.

In a letter titled “Demand To Do Justice” dated October 17, 2018, signed by the state chairman of CAN, Prof. T. O. Opoola and addressed to the APC national, Oshiomhole, the group condemned the alleged substitution of the name of Chief Adeyemi with another party member for the Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Irepodun/Isin federal constituency election.

“If the mandate of Chief Isaac Omogbenle Adeyemi is not tampered with, CAN will mobilise Christians for him to win the election. However, if the mandate given to him by the electorate is scuttled, Kwara CAN is left with no option than to mobilise her members to vote for the opposition party because the PDP candidate,” the letter said.

The letter was copied to the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; APC North-Central vice chairman, Alh.Wambai Suleiman; APC National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Issa-Onilu; Kwara State APC chairman, Bashir Bolarinwa and all members of the party’s National Working Committre (NWC).
