CSAAE set to host the 6th Emerging African Leaders Foundation Conference

Billionaire Business Tycoon, Dr. Cosmas Maduka (Coscharis Group), Human Right Activist, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu and Former Minister of State for Science, Mrs. Pauline Tallen among others are set to speak at the 6th Emerging African Leaders Foundation Conference (EALFC) holding on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Top Rank Hotel, Garki, Area II, Abuja, Nigeria. Time is 10am. The conference is organized by the Centre for Social Awareness, Advocacy and Ethics (CSAAE), an international youth focused non-profit founded by a Nigerian Igbo Catholic Priest, University Professor and Social Engineer, the Reverend Godswill Agbagwa.

Each year, CSAAE kicks off its three-year Emerging African Leaders Program (ELP) with the EALFC designed to address Africa’s leadership problems, challenge emerging leaders to seek solutions to community problems and orient future leaders towards social and moral values that enhance the greater good for Africa. CSAAE brings together top-notch leaders from across Africa to inspire future leaders, expose them to African leadership challenges and provoke them to think outside the box. The aim is to awaken their leadership spirit, revive their spirit of entrepreneurship and re-invigorate their social and moral sense. These future African Leaders are expected to leave the conference more determined than ever to bring change to Africa.

The EALFC provides opportunity for the future leaders to engage critical actors in development and nation building, showcase innovative community development projects inspired and supported by CSAAE while building useful networks for their future careers. As an organization that promotes merit and discourages laziness, the Conference is also a time for CSAAE to celebrate its achievements and reward future leaders who are fighting corruption, breaking new grounds and helping in unusual ways to facilitate development and end poverty in Africa.

Because of the negative impact of ethnic, religious and cultural divide on development in Africa, CSAAE has designed the EALFC to also help strengthen love, peace, unity and spirit of team work among future African leaders. For example, the Centre intentionally pairs future leaders from different ethnic groups and religions in a room to promote unity in diversity and also assigns cross-cultural, multi-religious and inter-ethnic roles at the conference and throughout the three-year ELP training at the Centre. Junior Emerging Leaders are also paired in a room with Senior Emerging Leaders to promote solidarity and crosspollination of ideas. Recently, the Centre has integrated social evening into the conference to provide safe space for future leaders from various ethnic, religious and cultural groups to build relationships, bond and forge common social-moral consensus that will drive next generation leadership in Africa.

Travelling, they say, is a form of education. Thus, the Igbos of Nigeria say that a younger person who travels wide and far is wiser than an elder who sits home. The EALFC, which at this time is held annually from state to state in Nigeria, provides future Leaders the opportunity to experience first-hand the culture and level of development of the various peoples of Nigeria whom they are being prepared to lead in the future. With a bus tour now added to the conference, EALFC sure will be a true immersion moment for young men and women desirous to end poverty in Africa.
Last year the conference was held in Lagos with Olisa Agbakoba and Pat Utomi leading the discussion. The year before, it was held in Owerri and this year it is holding in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.

The conference also serves as an opportunity for the Centre to formally induct new Emerging Leaders into the three-year ELP and to educate them on the vision, mission, programs, activities, rules and regulations of CSAAE while graduating Emerging Leaders are inducted into the Centre’s Network of Effective African Leaders (NEAL). Under the guidance of CSAAE, NEAL members run for offices, serve in government, launch enterprises and shape public policies to enhance the greater good for Africa. Both incoming and continuing Emerging Leaders get one-one-advising on way forward with their big dreams, community development projects and moral development goals at the conference.

EALFC usually holds in November every year. This year the theme of the conference is “Leadership for Common Good” featuring panel discussions on business, political and civic leadership for common good. Other panelists include the Chairman of National Law Review, Barrister Kefas Magaji and the award-winning journalist and Special Assistant to Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Ms. Lara-Wise Owoeye.

In-between the panel sessions, the Centre will present over thirty community development projects it is implementing across Nigeria. The Centre will also present white papers on the status of the SDGs and UNHR in Nigeria to relevant authorities. It will also present to the Chairman of National Law Review, the report of the Youth Constitution Review conducted by Emerging Nigerian Leaders under the auspices of the Centre. These reports are proceedings of a one-year study of these three critical instruments of development as part of CSAAE’s Emerging African Leaders Training.
