Barrister Titilope Tawakkalitu Anifowoshe, a lawyer and policy strategist from Kwara State, has extolled the leadership style of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, saying he is introducing a distinctive governance approach.

Anifowoshe, in an interview with INDEPENDENT on Sunday, February 4, said, “Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has infused a breath of fresh air into Kwara’s political landscape, introducing a distinctive governance approach.”

She acknowledged the governor’s imperfections but said, “his responsive style has addressed a notable percentage of citizens’ concerns.”

When asked to rate Abdulrazaq’s performance, “I believe it is prudent to reserve my final rating on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq until 2027, as this assessment will be intricately tied to the choice of his successor and the effectiveness of the transition process.”

Barrister Anifowoshe also said the influence of the Saraki family is waning in Kwara, adding that “Kwara is becoming more inclusive, owned by everyone rather than being dominated by a single family.”

She lamented the effect of godfatherism on the state’s progression, saying, “Kwara’s history has been marred by the stifling grip of godfatherism, a factor that significantly contributed to the state’s lapse in progressiveness.”

“The upcoming transition of power will serve as a litmus test for the commitment to breaking free from the shackles of absolute godfatherism,” she added.
