JUST IN: Senate suspends Ningi for three months over N3.7trn budget padding claim

On Tuesday, March 12, the 10th Senate, suspended Senator Abdul Ningi for three months over an allegation of N3.7 trillion padded into the 2024 budget.

The suspended Senator is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Population and represents PDP, Bauchi Central.

The FidelInfo gathered Ningi was suspended immediately, lawmakers debated a set of prayers contained in a motion moved by Ogun West Senator, Olamilekan Adeola, on the breach of his privilege following his claim on the 2024 Budget which has now gone viral.

The prayers requested punitive measures against Senator Ningi for his action, amongst others, which included suspension from the Senate.

The suspended Senator, who was said to have made the claim during a BBC Hausa Service interview at the weekend, however, denied the reports on Monday, saying he was quoted out of context because he spoke in Hausa language.
