Ahead of the general elections in 2023, the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) primary constituency in Sokoto state have formally merged with the APC.

Fidel Info reports that the Special Assistant to Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North), the state’s top APC official, Mr. Bashar Abubakar, said this in a statement to reporters on Wednesday in Sokoto.

Abubakar claims that the governorship candidate for the APC, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, welcomed the leaders of the organization known as the “Ubandoma/Sagir Youth Mobilization and Awareness Support Group” into the party.

Lukman Kwaire, the group’s chairman, and Anas Muhammad, its secretary, were among those who were welcomed by the APC, he claimed.

According to Abubakar, “the defectors had been working for PDP in many professions but found no political Ideology and focus within the party which made them cease their support and joined APC.

”The new members dumped the PDP following an intervention by one of the APC stakeholders in the state, Alhaji Umaru Tambuwal.”

Abubakar expressed confidence that APC would emerge victorious during the polls considering the volume of people joining the party on a daily basis.
