LP HOR candidate, Omoboye emerge new Deputy Governor of Edo State

Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki has appointed Omobayo Marvellous Godwin as the new Deputy Governor of the State.

This follow the impeachment of Philip Shaibu as Deputy Governor of Edo State House of Assembly on Monday.

Omobayo Marvellous is 38 year old Electrical Electronics Engineer who gathered experience in the oil and gas sector.

Omobayo was a Labour party candidate for Federal House of Representatives seat of Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency during the 2023 elections.

As the story of appointment is spread, stakeholders are waiting for reactions from various quarters, to see how the new deputy governor will navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead for Edo State.

Edo State House of Assembly impeached Philip Shaibu after he refused to honour invitations by the seven-man panel that investigate allegations against him.

After his refusal, the panel led by Justice S.A. Omonua (rtd) write report and recommend his removal for the House of Assembly, says Philip Shaibu does not take the opportunity given to him to defend himself.

For the sitting that occurs on Friday, Justice Omonua lament about the former deputy governor absence says, “this is the position of the panel. The panel adjourn sitting to today (Monday) for the last time for the respondent to present his defence, and the respondent still not make himself available before the panel
