The now-charming Kwara State Polytechnic Auditorium was one of the structures conceived by the late former Governor Muhammad Lawal more than two years ago. However, it was abandoned by the previous governments over a needless political brawl.

I remember, as a student of the prestigious polytechnic, the auditorium was an eyesore, just as the hostels you would first see when coming from the school gate were. The auditorium had become bushy and a haven for all kinds of reptiles, and its floors were designed with faeces.

This was the period when the school needed an auditorium for its programs. It had all its academic and social programs under rented tents at the stadium. Only God knows how many letters the school management wrote to the previous governments to fix the auditorium.

But they refused because it was their alleged political enemy who conceived it and some other abandoned projects in the polytechnic. They left the school in a sorry state because their political rival invested heavily in it. They wanted his investments to go unnoticed.

However, what the previous governments failed to understand is that government and governance are continuity. And that completing one’s predecessor’s projects will cause one no harm but applause, which is what Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON is receiving for fixing the abandoned auditorium.

Governor AbdulRazaq did not only fix the auditorium, he also ensured that it was named after the conceiver – Late Rear Admiral Muhammed Alabi Lawal. This can only be done by a visionary leader and governor who appreciates and rewards ingenuity.

I would like to end this piece by thanking His Excellency AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq CON for fulfilling his pledge on the abandoned auditorium. He had “pledged not to let Kwara be a mortuary of abandoned projects” in 2019, and he has completed almost all the abandoned projects

This essayist is aware of the hypocritical nature of the apologists of previous governments and what they are likely to say after reading this article. They will say, why is he the governor if he can’t complete abandoned projects? Forgetting their sacked Leader and his handpicked successor could not because of politics.
