Fire guts 37 shops in Kano

Kano State Fire Service said fire gutted 37 shops at Zawaciki area of Kumbotso Local Government of Kano State.

Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, the spokesman of the service, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the inferno occurred on Wednesday at about 01:37 a.m.

He said, “We received a distress call at about 01:37 a.m. from one Malam Baba that there was a fire outbreak at Zuwaciki.

“We quickly mobilised our personnel to the scene at about 01:47 a.m. and put out the fire so as not to spread to other shops.”

The spokesman said the 37 shops were on the ground floor of a multi-purpose building.

Abdullahi also said that three other shops were slightly damaged by the fire.

He said the inferno didn’t take any life, and that the cause of the fire is being investigated. (NAN)
