Governor Mohammed Bago of Niger State has denied the alleged ban by his administration on the sale of alcoholic beverages in Suleja and eight other local governments sharing boundaries with suburbs of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Bago, in a statement he signed, described the story as a figment of the imagination of mischief-makers in the state.

According to him: ” The state government did not authorise the ban on alcohol. I hereby urge the citizenry, irrespective of their religious and ethnic leanings, to go about their businesses without let or hindrance.”

DAILY POST recalls that the State Liquor and Licencing Board, through the Secretary, Malam Ibrahim Mohammed, claimed in a statement to newsmen in Minna that the ban on alcohol takes immediate effect on Monday in Suleja and eight other local governments sharing boundaries with suburbs of Abuja
