South West Health Stakeholders meet, as BudgIT Foundation held Interactive with Health Practitioners

The BudgIT Foundation which is a subsidiary of the Covid 19 Transparency and Accountability Project (CTAP) gathered in Osogbo the capital of Osun State on Monday with the health stakeholders of both Government and private sectors to set the agenda for the health care sector in Nigeria

The Interactive program which comprises of Permanent Secretaries for ministry of Health, Chief Medical Directors of Higher Institution, Executive Secretary of the Primary Health center, representatives of the commissioner of health and all other health stakeholders across the South West came together and have a bountiful discussion on how the state of health should be

In his address, the Coordinator of BudgiT Foundation Mr Iyanuoluwa Bolarinwa said, the foundation is trying to understand the state of health and the condition of the facilities present in the hospital across the South West and to be able to set the agenda especially for the new government

The Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital Ibadan, Dr Adeoye Abiodun Moshood in the interview was able to dig deep into the condition and state of health sector, he said there are many challenges facing the system but we are gathered here today to discuss the way forward which will serve as a guide to the government in all levels

“The federal government are yet to meet the target of the normal funding as putting down in the annual budget and this makes the health sector to be far below the average, even the little funding putting across to the health sector are not utilizing effectively and there should be proper monitoring of the health care activities

Dr Mrs Oluwabunmi Fatugase who is the Chief Medical Director of Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu Ogun State while given her own speech said everybody should be sincere in this discussion and bring rationale solution that will help the higher stakeholders and policy makers, for things to turn around government need to start from the bottom i.e Primary Health Center by equipping them with necessary materials and personnel, by doing this it will relieved burden on secondary and tertiary institution

The Executive Secretary of Osun Health Insurance Scheme Dr Adeniyi Oginni added that government as an health practitioner we should all be sincere to this discussion as it will give the foundation the necessary foot to placed their recommendations”At the end of the program all the participants came into a conclusion and arrive on a communique that will serve as a guide to the foundation which will be presented to the government at all levels
