A man who gave the name Jonathan Onu is in police custody for allegedly stealing motorcycle tyres worth N300,000 from the Trade Fair Market in the Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos State.

FidelInfo learnt that the incident occurred at about 7.35 pm on March 2, 2024.

A police source told PUNCH correspondent that Onu stole 20 pieces of motorcycle tyres from the market.

The police source said, “A chief security officer in the Trade Fair complex said Onu, a security man working in the complex, carted away 20 pieces of motorcycle tyres from a cargo company valued at N300,000.”

A trader, who preferred not to be mentioned, said Onu had a history of stealing from the market.

The trader said, “He is fond of stealing, and this is not the first time he has done this. He was not just lucky this time around, and it is not fair that someone would steal in this economy.”

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident to PUNCH correspondent.

“The items have been recovered at the station, and the suspect will be charged in court at the conclusion of the investigation,” he said.
