Kidnapped Channels TV reporter Joshua Rogers regains freedom

Channels Television, who was abducted from his home in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor area of Rivers State, has been freed.

He was freed unharmed around 10 p.m. on Friday, less than 24 hours after his abduction on Thursday.

His colleague, Charles Oporum, said he was released late on Friday, stating, “Yes, he has been released about an hour ago and has reunited with his family.”

The management of Channels Television also confirmed Rogers’ release in a brief statement, thanking viewers and all concerned parties for their support during the distressing incident.

Meanwhile, a video emerged showing Rogers celebrating his reunion with his family, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The circumstances surrounding his release have not been disclosed.

Both the Department of State Services (DSS) and the police had initiated rescue operations upon learning of his kidnap.

Rogers is the Government House Correspondent for Channels TV in Port Harcourt.
