I Police arraign 28-year-old man for allegedly stealing N2.2m paint

Afolabi Femi, 28, was brought before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ekiti on Wednesday for allegedly stealing seven barrels of paint worth N2.2 million.

The defendant, who has no established residence, is on trial for theft.

According to the police prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, the defendant committed the crime on October 29, 2021 at Ado-Ekiti.

 

Okunade claimed that the defendant took seven drums of ATM paint and other paints worth N2.2 million from one Mrs Grace Akindahunsi.

He stated that the offence violated Section 383 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012, and was penalised under Section 390(6) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

 

The defendant entered a not-guilty plea.

The defendant was granted bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in the same sum by the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titilayo Ola-Olorun. She postponed the matter until March 3 for a hearing.
