Man bags life sentence for introducing minor to porn

On Thursday, Justice Abiola Soladoye of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court convicted and sentenced a man described as Nurudeen Nasiru to life imprisonment for introducing a 13-year-old daughter of his neighbour to pornography and sexually assaulting her.

Mr Olusola Soneye, during the trial, the State Counsel called three witnesses, a social worker, the survivor, and her father, while the convict testified as a sole witness.

The confessional statement of Nasiru was tendered as an exhibit by the prosecution.

The prosecutor said the convict committed the offences on February 23, 2021, at about 3.45 pm on Aminu Street, Alapere, Ketu, Lagos.

The Judge ruled that the convict sexually assaulted the minor through the anus and also introduced her to pornography.

She said, “Nasiru was a neighbour who went to the room of the survivor and opened his phone to show her pornographic videos and afterwards forced her to practise what he had shown her on his phone.

“Nasiru, in his confessional statement, admitted to having had sexual intercourse with the survivor.”

The Judge, therefore, convicted Nasiru of the two counts preferred against him.

“On count one of sexual assault by penetration, Nasiru is sentenced to life imprisonment.

“On count two of indecent treatment of a child, Nasiru is sentenced to seven years imprisonment.

“The sentence should run concurrently, and his name is to be entered in the Sexual Offenders’ Register maintained by the Lagos State Government.”
