13 Suspected Killers Of Kwara Monarch Remanded

An Ilorin Magistrate’s Court, on Wednesday, February 14, ordered that the 13 suspected killers of Oba Segun Aremu, the Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local Government area of Kwara State, should be remanded at a Correctional Centre.

The suspects were arraigned for alleged culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and offering false information.

They are Olowofela Oyebanji, Godwin Jacob, Adefalolu Ayodele, Babatunde Samuel, Tewasie Francis, Godwin Joseph, Issa Number and Miracle Solomon.

Others include Muhammed Bello, Abraham Kehinde, Muhammed Muhammed, Muhammed Dankai, and Ahmadu Umaru.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) stated that one Aremu Simon Adeyemi reported the case of the murder of Oba Segun Aremu to the Eruku Police Division.

FIR quoted Adeyemi: “The suspects pointed a gun at him, ordering him to follow them when he challenged them after noticing their movement around his grandson.

“He said his grandson escaped through the backdoor while the suspects proceeded to kill the monarch, kidnapped his wife and one Mercy.”

Abdullah Sanni, the police prosecutor, informed the court of the motion exparte attached to the police report, asking the court to remand the arraigned suspects.

Magistrate Monisola Kamson, in her ruling, ordered that the suspects should be remanded at the Federal Correctional Centre and postponed the matter to March 5, 2024.
