25-year-old bags life imprisonment for raping boy in Jigawa

On Thursday, a Jigawa State High Court, presided over by Justice Musa Ubale, sentenced Aminu Ali, a 25-year-old, to life in jail for raping and sodomising a 10-year-old boy (name withheld).

Ali is from Aukayawa Quarters in the Gwaram Local Government Area of the state. The court found him guilty after the prosecution had established “beyond reasonable doubt” that he lured the victim and engaged in anal sex with him.

Establishing its case, the prosecution counsel presented five witnesses and submitted four exhibits and a medical report.

Justice Ubale, in his ruling, said the prosecution had established its case beyond reasonable doubt.

As a result, Ubale sentenced Ali to life imprisonment under Section 3 (2&4) of the Violence Against Person Prohibition Law of Jigawa State (VAPP LAW).

The justice, however, stated that the convict has the legal right to appeal the judgment within three months.
