Hoodlums stab photographer to death in Niger State

Armed men have killed 33-year-old Zacchaeus Salawadeen, a freelance photographer, after stabbing him many times in the presence of his three children.

The armed men were reported to have followed Salawadeen to his house in Tundun Fulani Area of Minna, Niger State capital, where they stabbed him to death.

The incident was reported to have occurred on Tuesday night after Salawadeen finished his work for the day and retired home to be with his family.

He was said to have been taken to the IBB Specialist Hospital, where his death was confirmed.

A resident of the area said the hoodlums invaded Salawadeen’s flat after they forced their way into his apartment and killed him.

The hoodlums reportedly left with valuables such as a laptop and camera belonging to Salawadeen.

Wasiu Abiodun, the Niger State Police spokesperson, when contacted, confirmed the incident and said exhibits were recovered from the scene while the investigation commenced.

Abiodun said, “On 27/2/2024 at about 0850hrs, it was reported at Bosso Division that on the same date at about 0330hrs, one Zacchaeus, 33yrs, of Tudun-Fulani, Minna, was attacked in the house by a yet-to-be-identified person(s), who stabbed and robbed him of valuables. He was rushed to the IBB Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

“The police operatives at Bosso Division visited the scene. Some exhibits were recovered from the scene, and preliminary investigation has commenced into the unfortunate incident.”
