My husband not magician, says Oluremi as Adeleke, others exhort Nigerians

First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has said her husband, President Bola Tinubu, is not a magician, even as she pleaded with Nigerians to have faith in the current administration. She spoke, yesterday, during an interdenominational service to mark Nigeria’s 63rd independence anniversary, held at National Christian Centre Abuja.

Mrs. Tinubu said the President’s recent trip to the United Nations General Assembly in New York was full of success stories. “We came back with good news. All we inherited are things that happened many years ago. We are not here to apportion blame on any administration but to fix what is already damaged,” she said.

The First Lady added: “My husband is not a magician; he is going to work bit by bit. And I believe and hope that you will have faith in this administration. The best is yet to come.”

This came as some state governors admonished citizens on the occasion of Nigeria’s independence anniversary. Osun State governor, Ademola Adeleke, called on Nigerians to pray for continued peace and prosperity, even as he lamented: “We are currently in a difficult situation; the precarious economic situation is affecting everyone. This is our reality and we must face it.”

He said: “As leaders, we must collaborate to find lasting solutions, irrespective of our cultural, religious, political and social affiliations. We must also seek divine intervention from God.”

His Ondo State counterpart, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, urged citizens to join hands with the leadership to rebuild the country. In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, he said: “Despite today’s challenges, our hope and trust must remain unshaken. Our journey towards a prosperous and secure future has just begun. We must continually interrogate every issue that hinders the development and greatness of our beloved nation.”

Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, said “the new administration at the centre is doing its best. What we owe them is our prayers and support to achieve the Nigeria of our dream.”

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Boniface Onyedi, the governor added: “We promised to consolidate and continue on the new Rivers vision, and to the glory of God, we have not deviated from it. We may be experiencing some challenges, which is natural. But we are still on course.”
