The Anambra Police Command said it had nabbed one armed robbery suspect and leader of Vikings Secret Cult Confraternity and armed gang, Anichede Akachukwu.

This was revealed in a statement by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesman, on Wednesday.

He said that Akachukwu, ‘M’ 18 years, also known as ‘Star B,’ was a “most wanted” armed robbery suspect and confessed leader of an armed gang terrorising communities in Anambra and Delta states.

Ikenga said his arrest trailed a tip-off of intelligence gathered as he was receiving treatment in their den from a bullet wound sustained in their encounter with police operatives in Asaba.

He added that Akachukwu had provided the police with information on their modus operandi and names of his accomplices, which was already aiding the ongoing investigation.

“The policing plan and model on practical intelligence, technology-driven, and tactical operations already placed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, have paid off following the arrest on 17/5/2024 of a notorious and most wanted cultist and armed robber in Uruagu village, Oba, Idemili South LGA.

“The suspect, Anichede Akachukwu, ‘M,’ 18 years, a.k.a. ‘Star B,’ is a confessed leader of Vikings Secret Cult Confraternity and armed gang terrorising Ogbaru LGA and Asaba in Delta State.

“His arrest is following a tip-off of intelligence gathered as he was receiving treatment in their den from a bullet wound sustained in their encounter with police operatives in Asaba.

“The suspects have provided the police with information on their mode of operations and names of other gang members, which is already aiding the ongoing investigation,” he said.

The SP also added that the police, on May 20, 2024, in Okija, Ihiala LGA, recovered a white Porsche Cayenne Jeep with registration number AGL 60 HJ, Lagos, suspected to be the operational vehicle of the successions operating in Ihiala.

He added, “During a search of the vehicle, the operatives found a bag and discovered 27 pieces of live 7.62m ammunition, three live cartridges, one-touch light, charms, and other incriminating items.

“To this end, the CP has charged the operatives to sustain the tempo and direct continuous onslaught. Operations aimed to weed out all the criminal elements and reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state.”
